America Diary III

American people are fun loving  people, they enjoy their life in a energetic way, they live their life to the fullest. You can say, this is the country of youngsters, country of people who are young at heart and not by age. Here, you can find old men riding the 'Harley Davidson' bikes, you will find the old ladies wearing the stylish cloths going for the dates in the evening and you will also find the old people getting married to start their new life again.
I was surprised and amazed when I saw a person of almost 75 years working as taxi driver, I saw 80 years old grannies working in various private offices and firms with the same productivity. These people come to their offices by driving their trucks or cars on their own. Moreover I also heard about one older couple that when they were shifting to the Los Angeles from Chicago, which are at least 3000 miles away from each other, they drove their truck by themselves all the way. Can you imagine this? I was really impressed, everybody here seems so energetic and full of enthusiasm. You will hardly find anybody sitting in the home during the weekends. People will work hard during the weekdays and will have fun on the weekends.  So while I was still struggling with the jet lag, my first weekend came up and I started planning for my first weekend with the help of Jog family, we decided to enjoy the sun bath at Laguna beach in the Orange county before hot and arid Californian summer starts burning the atmosphere. Laguna beach is one of the famous beach in Southern California. The summer vacations were just started and the families were out to wander. It was my first weekend in the US and I was eager to click the snaps of the beautiful city of Lagoona beach. Few of them are here.

The Camera Story...

Visiting new places also comes with the requirement of capturing photographs with some good camera, not necessarily with digital SLR but at least with digital camera of few mega pixels and considerable optical zoom.  I have a digital camera of 8 mega pixels and 3X optical zoom. I bought that in 2006 when I was in Japan. I was satisfied with the quality of the images I captured with it and I had no intention of replacing it in near future. During my stay in USA my friend suggested me to buy new camera but I ignored his suggestion, I was firm on my decision. But one day we were coming back from office, my friend casually said "At least you can take a look at wide variety of cameras and many other things". I nodded, there was no harm in spending some time in that giant electronic store. We parked the car and entered the store. The store was obviously huge with a wide variety of various electronic items. My friend took me to camera section, there were plenty of cameras of ...

My days in Japan : II

On our journey to Mumbai international airport we found out that my and one of my colleague who initially missed our van had a ticket of same airline but the guy who boarded the van at the end was having a ticket of different airline. He became nervous as he was going to travel entire journey from Mumbai to Tokyo all alone and for the first time.     We reached Mumbai international airport six in the evening. After getting inside we immediately checked in our luggage to avoid extra burden. I sat on a bench, thinking of how to spend time. I wondered, for a last whole week, I was in need of some spare time for relaxation and I could not afford it but now I was having a plenty of time to spend and I was getting bored I was not feeling like to take a rest.    Three of us were wearing suit, neck tie, in a perfect formal attire, I was feeling like we are part of some high profile delegation and are visiting Japan to attend some important co...

My days in Japan: III

It was late in the night according to local time when our flight landed on Narita airport. We were standing in the queue for immigration. "We are almost 2 hours late", my friend muttered. I saw in wall clock it was showing 11:30. "Now at least two hours to reach the apartment at Rokugoudote", I said to myself, a distance of approximately 65 kilo-meters. I was worried about the mode of transport, I was totally unaware of the fact that the taxi which was supposed to pick up us from Narita airport was already gone. Immigration officer demanded my passport and invitation letter then he looked at me and called his colleague, discussed something with him. His colleague then asked me whether anybody is accompanying me, after I pointed my finger to my friend both of us were told to wait in some waiting room. He did not ask us any single question or not even explanation for something. We were sitting there for almost half an hour like a statue, I was so tired that I was not...
