Amazing England III

Stratford upon Avon :- Lies on the river Avon, in Warwick shire, mainly known as the birth town of great English play writer and poet "William Shakespeare". Many of my friends and colleagues recommended me to visit this place. There is one more Stratford, just Stratford, in London, so in order to avoid the confusion, Shakespeare's Stratford is called as "Stratford upon Avon". The journey takes hardly 15 minutes by train from Leamington Spa.     I got down on the small station of  the town and started walking towards the tourist center to collect town map. Out of the five houses of Shakespeare, I decided to visit three of them, the birthplace, Nash's house (also the site of the new place) and Hall's croft. I had only four hours to visit these places. I started with the birth place i.e. the house in which this great play writer was born.   Birth place of William Shakespeare.    Nash's house and the site of new place. Hall's ...

Amazing England II

Warwick Castle:- This castle was built in 11th century by a Norman King called William the Conqueror. The castle is situated in Warwick shire county and is at around distance of 3 miles from Leamington Spa. Before visiting this castle, I had a different idea about this centuries old monument, I was thinking, it would be a monument which will be in the ruins or at least will be very old in appearance, will be isolated except few people, having deep interest in history or architecture. But when I actually visited the castle, I was surprised, the castle was having much more than just being an 'old castle'. There were various entertainment programs and games inside it. The castle was not appearing as an old castle, but a center of entertainment and enjoyment. There were considerable number of children accompanied by their parents. May be I was having the impression of the ancient Indian monuments or castles or ancient sites in my mind and made a mistake, it was English way of pre...

Amazing England I

Last year in October, I visited UK. It was my second visit to the English land and again this time too I could not visit Scotland and Welsh country. As it was autumn in the UK, I found colorful trees everywhere. The weather was as unpredictable as stock exchange, giving warm as well as cooling effects periodically and sometimes raining for the whole day. I visited Leamington Spa town (where I was staying), Warwick castle, Stratford upon Avon(William Shakespeare's birth place) and City of Coventry.     I am sharing few snaps of my visit, in three parts.    Royal Leamington Spa:- Situated in Warwick shire, famous for its mineral spa was once used to called as Leamington Priors.  Here are few snaps of the city.     The colorful trees all around the streets of Leamington city. It feels like various paint brushes are trying to color the canvass of the sky. River Leam flowing through the town, you can see greenery around the rive...

India is changing!

Thousands of people on the streets, without any leadership, without any political influence, demanding for the Jan-Lokapal bill, a bill that will ultimately control and cure the cancer of corruption in India.    Yesterday, I came back from a candle march organized by few organizations in my city, Pune. I felt as if I was watching any Bollywood film, I felt as if  I was in dreams, it was unbelievable, I could feel the enthusiasm of the people, giving the slogans against the corrupt politicians, corrupt bureaucrats and corrupt system. There were the young collage students, there were employees, there were pensioners, in short there were people from all backgrounds, agitating by holding candles in support of Mr. Anna Hazare, who was on fast till last hour, for the demand of Jan-Lokpal bill and the victory was ours, it was the victory of India again after 'cricket world cup', when government agreed for all the five demands raised by Mr. Anna Hazare.   I remember...
