Amazing England III

Stratford upon Avon:- Lies on the river Avon, in Warwick shire, mainly known as the birth town of great English play writer and poet "William Shakespeare". Many of my friends and colleagues recommended me to visit this place. There is one more Stratford, just Stratford, in London, so in order to avoid the confusion, Shakespeare's Stratford is called as "Stratford upon Avon". The journey takes hardly 15 minutes by train from Leamington Spa.
I got down on the small station of  the town and started walking towards the tourist center to collect town map. Out of the five houses of Shakespeare, I decided to visit three of them, the birthplace, Nash's house (also the site of the new place) and Hall's croft. I had only four hours to visit these places. I started with the birth place i.e. the house in which this great play writer was born.

Coventry:- The nearest biggest city from Leamington Spa. Situated in county of West Midlands, famous for Transport museum, art gallerias, Coventry cathedrals both new and the ancient one. The ancient cathedral was destroyed in the bombing in World War II. Due to terms, I can not publish the photographs taken inside the museum, forgive me for that.
Here are few snaps of the city.

India is changing!

Thousands of people on the streets, without any leadership, without any political influence, demanding for the Jan-Lokapal bill, a bill that will ultimately control and cure the cancer of corruption in India.    Yesterday, I came back from a candle march organized by few organizations in my city, Pune. I felt as if I was watching any Bollywood film, I felt as if  I was in dreams, it was unbelievable, I could feel the enthusiasm of the people, giving the slogans against the corrupt politicians, corrupt bureaucrats and corrupt system. There were the young collage students, there were employees, there were pensioners, in short there were people from all backgrounds, agitating by holding candles in support of Mr. Anna Hazare, who was on fast till last hour, for the demand of Jan-Lokpal bill and the victory was ours, it was the victory of India again after 'cricket world cup', when government agreed for all the five demands raised by Mr. Anna Hazare.   I remember...

The Camera Story...

Visiting new places also comes with the requirement of capturing photographs with some good camera, not necessarily with digital SLR but at least with digital camera of few mega pixels and considerable optical zoom.  I have a digital camera of 8 mega pixels and 3X optical zoom. I bought that in 2006 when I was in Japan. I was satisfied with the quality of the images I captured with it and I had no intention of replacing it in near future. During my stay in USA my friend suggested me to buy new camera but I ignored his suggestion, I was firm on my decision. But one day we were coming back from office, my friend casually said "At least you can take a look at wide variety of cameras and many other things". I nodded, there was no harm in spending some time in that giant electronic store. We parked the car and entered the store. The store was obviously huge with a wide variety of various electronic items. My friend took me to camera section, there were plenty of cameras of ...

Exploring Pondicherry-IV

On the next day we did not go anywhere outside the Pondicherry. We visited few noted places like ‘Vinayagar Temple’ of Lord Ganesha, ‘Immaculate Cathedral’ and Romain Rolland Library. Romain Rolland library located on Romain Rolland street (previously known as Bibliotheque Publique)  is one of the oldest library in India named after notable French scholar ‘Romain Rolland’. This library contains over 300,000 volumes in different languages.  We visited a sweet mart run by Ashrama in the city and enjoyed eating Bengali sweets, sometimes trying the fast food on the Chinese corner and also special Tamil meal on the banana leaf in traditional Tamil restaurant. Serving food on the banana leaf reminded me of my own Maharashtrian culture and felt like at home. Our next plan was to visit Pichavaram, largest mangrove forest in India, on the backwaters of Vellar and Colerron rivers and about eighty kilometers from Pondicherry. We enquired at the Bus stand about the bus availability and th...
