America Diary III

American people are fun loving  people, they enjoy their life in a energetic way, they live their life to the fullest. You can say, this is the country of youngsters, country of people who are young at heart and not by age. Here, you can find old men riding the 'Harley Davidson' bikes, you will find the old ladies wearing the stylish cloths going for the dates in the evening and you will also find the old people getting married to start their new life again.      I was surprised and amazed when I saw a person of almost 75 years working as taxi driver, I saw 80 years old grannies working in various private offices and firms with the same productivity. These people come to their offices by driving their trucks or cars on their own. Moreover I also heard about one older couple that when they were shifting to the Los Angeles from Chicago, which are at least 3000 miles away from each other, they drove their truck by themselves all the way. Can you imag...

America Diary II

After 7 hours of journey, the flight landed at Narita, Japan. We were supposed to wait for couple of hours on Narita airport before departing to Los Angeles.  I was again on that familiar airport after 5 years refreshing my memories of  kanji letters, those familiar Japanese words and the beautiful custom of bowing. I felt like I am missing my those wonderful days in Japan, I felt like just to go out and recall the past moments, but reality took me to the flight and I was ready for the takeoff for the third time since my departure from Mumbai. It was the longest air journey I ever had in my life, a journey of almost 11 hours to reach Los Angeles from Narita. I was tired and needed some sleep. When I woke up, I noticed the clear daylight outside the window. I started thinking, we left Narita 6:45 in the evening and were traveling since 4 hours then where this daylight came from? Suddenly I realized, yes! we had crossed the international dateline, taking us a day behind. We...

America Diary I

Its almost more than 2 weeks, I am here in America. I was trying hard to get back to my blog as I haven't written anything for almost a month. Initially the jet lag and then the busy routine prevented me from writing. Today, I got some time and I am here at my desk with the same, old Lenovo R61 laptop, a laptop without  battery, a laptop always on ventilator. Obviously I have started recalling all the events right from the day on which I received the US visa. After applying for the second time, I received my US visa in this April, I had to go under the same lengthy process again. But this time, counselor at the Mumbai consulate asked me few logical questions instead of numerous vague questions, when he saw the granted visas of various other countries on my passport, he was convinced that I am not the one who is going to be a potential immigrant, I am really visiting US for some authentic purpose and at the end  he told me reluctantly that my visa has been approved. So ...

Sometimes few silent moments comes in your life and suddenly it starts recalling your nostalgia. The moments which are stored  safely in the corner of your memory, starts coming out. You don't have to be a great or famous to recall or to write your memories. Everybody has something from his past, few magical moments that counts, his own audience to listen. I am also not exception to that, there are some moments which makes me sad, pride and smile.      It is said that when you start recalling the events from the past too often, it  indicates that mentally you are getting old. But who cares?? I love to wander in the past, to enjoy the magic moments again and to forget the present for  some time. Most of the times we remain busy in our daily routine, we think less and behave like machines, we keep working all the day, then we go back to our home, we spend some time with our family members, then we end our day by going to bed and start a new...

Experiencing the world through books

I remember, I was of just 3 or 4, at that time my mother used to work as school teacher, the school was having significant large library. She used to issue few books per week to tell the stories to me and my younger sister in the free time. In that way, she introduced me the wonderful world of books, answering my never ending  questions and telling the same story by showing the pictures again and again and never loosing her patience. I am very thankful to her, she is the one who developed my interest in books and today she complains about it, that I read too much and sometimes I forget everything around me while reading a book, but I cannot help, she is the "culprit". As I grew up I started reading as a habit and I could finish a book of considerable size (of around 300-350 pages) in a day or two. One day my father suggested me to read English books, he is having collection of around five hundred books written by various authors including R.L Stevenson, W. Somerset Maugham, ...

Amazing England III

Stratford upon Avon :- Lies on the river Avon, in Warwick shire, mainly known as the birth town of great English play writer and poet "William Shakespeare". Many of my friends and colleagues recommended me to visit this place. There is one more Stratford, just Stratford, in London, so in order to avoid the confusion, Shakespeare's Stratford is called as "Stratford upon Avon". The journey takes hardly 15 minutes by train from Leamington Spa.     I got down on the small station of  the town and started walking towards the tourist center to collect town map. Out of the five houses of Shakespeare, I decided to visit three of them, the birthplace, Nash's house (also the site of the new place) and Hall's croft. I had only four hours to visit these places. I started with the birth place i.e. the house in which this great play writer was born.   Birth place of William Shakespeare.    Nash's house and the site of new place. Hall's ...
